Who are You without the Addiction?

Did you know that you can become addicted to anything, including anger, or to having never-ending drama and conflict?

Addictive behaviors are often learned in childhood and serve as a means to cope with a variety of emotions that can be carried through to adulthood, leaving people with no realization that they are living in a constant state of anger, or having ongoing relationship conflict or drama.

People can become addicted to drugs, alcohol, food, gambling, sex, shopping and exercise.  Anything can develop into an addictive behavior, including emotional reactions or how we present ourselves to the world.

When ending an addictive behavior, grief and loss will surface because the addictive behavior has served to block out whatever it is that is trying to be healed.  Staying in the addiction, only results in depression, more issues or problems, and the greatest tragedy of all, the addiction leads to the loss of self.

What are your patterns in life?  Think beyond the addition in terms of behaviors and look at your emotional responses towards others and life in general.  Sometimes the emotional addiction plays a greater role in your life than you are aware of.
